Hanky Code

Within the taboo world of sex, there are many secret and not so secret desires kept in the dark, along with  ignorance and fear. For centuries, sex has been considered amoral or unspeakable. Incredibly so, many people still feel this way about it, but I don't have to tell you; you probably know someone, or two, or ten, that are repressed when it comes to their sexuality. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean modest people that don't unleash their sex life onto every passing wind; I'm talking about those people who think sex is dirty, promiscuity makes you a bad person, and orgasms are the Devil's tickles.

Oh, what up, Satan?

Unfortunately, because people are still shamed for what they are turned on by, many have devised different codes and signals for finding people of similar mind to get freaky with. This includes a "hanky code". Allegedly, hanky wearers are most commonly seen at gay leather bars; I haven't had the luck to see these in the wild yet. However, I found a pamphlet about it at work, so I thought I'd share it with you. Worse case scenario, these codes are no longer in use, best case scenario, you now speak hanky. It's like being part of a secret society like the Illuminati or Freemasons, except there's a lot more sex.

Without further ado, I'll step down from my soapbox, and here are some hanky codes; who uses them and where they wear it:

Before we start the list, the location of the hanky changes its meaning. If worn in the back pocket, it might mean the wearer is looking for some action. If worn in the front pocket, it might mean they have already found a partner for this activity. Also, I've added links to certain terms that you may not be familiar with. To save time, a top is someone who gives,  and a bottom is someone who receives. Alright, as you were.
